CURSO PRESENCIAL: OPTIMISING THE USE OF YOUR LANGUAGE ASSISTANTS IN SECONDARY EDUCATION (B_0066)
Language assistants are a valuable resource in our classrooms that can help our students develop their communicative and intercultural competences. However, we need to know how to unlock their potential in order to make the most of the qualities that each individual brings. In this course, we’ll offer ideas of how to best prepare for the assistants that come to your school. We’ll explore cultural differences and see how they can affect and enhance our working relationships and our teaching practices. You’ll take part in hands-on workshops that will allow you to plan dynamic and engaging activities for the English and subject classrooms in which assistants can take on an active and supporting role. We’ll also see how collaborating with colleagues will allow us to more effectively support our language assistants in performing their duties. This course will be very practical in nature, and participants will be asked to actively collaborate throughout the week.

- Objetivos
-To define the role of the language assistant
-To offer best practices and recommendations for working with a language assistant in the Secondary classroom
-To suggest ways to best prepare and guide the language assistant
-To guide participants when planning lessons that involve language assistants

-Classroom dynamics for the efficient use of a language assistant
- Metodología
The course will be hands-on and interactive. Participants are expected to participate actively in class discussion and tasks. English will be used as the language of instruction.
- Evaluación
Attendance, in-class participation and Final Project. This activity consists of a lesson plan or a project outline in which the language assistant plays a key role.
Deadline to submitt the final project: 19th July.

Este curso está dirigido a los siguientes perfiles:
- Profesores de Enseñanza Secundaria de la especialidad de Inglés
- Profesores de Enseñanza Secundaria de cualquier especialidad que estén en posesión de la habilitación lingüística en lengua inglesa para desempeñar puestos bilingües en la Comunidad de Madrid.
- Profesores Técnicos de FP que estén en posesión de la habilitación lingüística en lengua inglesa para desempeñar puestos bilingües en la Comunidad de Madrid.
- Inspectores de Educación que estén en posesión de la habilitación lingüística en lengua inglesa para desempeñar puestos bilingües en la Comunidad de Madrid.
En el caso de los Profesores Técnicos de FP que estén en posesión de la habilitación lingüística en lengua inglesa para desempeñar puestos bilingües en la Comunidad de Madrid, únicamente podrán participar aquellos docentes que se encuentren impartiendo en inglés alguno de los módulos incluidos en las siguientes familias profesionales: Hostelería y Turismo, Informática y Comunicaciones, Comercio y Marketing, Administración y Gestión, Imagen y Sonido y todos los correspondientes al Ciclo Formativo de Grado Superior de Educación Infantil. Estos docentes deberán aportar un certificado de puesto de trabajo que verifique que están impartiendo el módulo correspondiente, a través del siguiente enlace al aula virtual: aula virtual.
No serán admitidas solicitudes de docentes cuyos perfiles no se ajusten a los descritos anteriormente.
